National minorities on Friday protested in Khagrachari over allegations of rape of an ethnic girl in Rangamati and an attempt to rape another woman in Khagrachari, demanding exemplary punishments of the perpetrators.
Some 700 ethnic minorities also protested at the incidents with brooms and sticks in Khagrachari’ Dighinala, organised by Hill Women’s Federation and Parbatya Chattogram Nari Sangha, said another press release issued by Dighinala upazila branch of Hill Women’s Federation.
The press releases alleged that six plain clothes security forces raped a Secondary School Certificate candidate on September 3 in Rangamati’s Kaptai while a Bengali settler attempted to rape another ethnic woman in Khagrachari’s Ramgarh upazila on the same day.
Although the police arrested the accused in Ramgarh incident, no one was identified or arrested in the rape allegation in Rangamati, according to the releases.
