In absence of renovation, carpeting of 14-kilometer-long Raojan-Noapara Section-1 road has been damaged at various places, creating large potholes and making it unfit for traffic.
As a result, passengers and the public are suffering severely. Local people are demanding that the road be renovated to alleviate the long-standing suffering of the locals.
During a random visit, It has been seen that potholes have been created at different places including at Noapara Pathar market, Ram Bazar, Magdai Bazar, Roop Chand, Kagtia, Chitiyapara and other places. Vehicles are falling into the potholes created in the middle of the road. Accidents are happening every day. Thousands of people are taking risks since there is no alternative road.
People from city, Fatikchhari and Rangamati travel by the road.
Locals said that the road starts from the Rangamati highway in Raozan Municipality and ends at the entrance to Kaptai Road in Noapara Bazar of the upazila. There are numerous markets, schools, colleges and madrasas on both sides of this road. But the important road has become a risky due to its poor condition.
Local businessman Ziaur Rahman said that the condition of the road has made it very difficult to take a patient to the hospital. Due to the accumulation of muddy water on the road, the goods of the shops of the traders along the road are being damaged and are also being damaged. He demanded immediate repair of this road.
CNG run auto-rickshaw driver Lokman said that it is very difficult to drive on this road. "Once I come from Noapara to Raozan Sadar by renting a car, I do not want to go to Noapara a second time".
The Roads and Highway Department says that the tender for the renovation of the road is in the process. Once the approval of the ministry is received, the work will be started soon. The development of this dilapidated road will cost about 120 to 160 million taka.
Executive Engineer of the Chittagong Roads and Highway Department Md. Mosleh Uddin Chowdhury said that the tender for the development of the road is in the process of being invited by the ministry. Once we get the approval, the work on this road will be started soon.
