Rani Hamid retains solo lead in national women’s chess

Reigning woman champion WIM Rani Hamid of Bangladesh Ansar & VDP has retained her solo lead in the points table with 6.5 points after 7th round games of the 39th National Women’s Chess Championship now being held at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room, reports BSS.

WIM Sharmin Sultana Shirin of Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society and WFM Nazrana Khan Eva of Manikganj are jointly sharing the second slot with six points.

Eight players are sharing the third position with five points. They are WCM Samiha Sharmin Shimmi, Kazi Zarin Tasnim of Dhaka Division, Afrin Jahan Munia of Barisal, Ahmed Walijah, Jannatul Ferdous, Nusrat Jahan Alo & Wadifa Ahmed of Elegant International Chess Academy and Nusrat Jahan Liza.

In the day’s seventh round matches held on Wednesday, WIM Rani Hamid beat Walijah, WIM Shirin beat Alo, WFM Eva beat Munai, WCM Shimmi beat Tasnia Tarannum Orpa, Jannat beat Jannatul Ferdousi, Wadifa beat Umme Taslima Protiva Talukder, Liza beat Afroz aHoque Chowdhury, Zarin split point with WCM Noshin Anjum and Warsia Khusbu drew with Israt Jahan Diba.
