Rangpur records 5.11pc Covid-19 positivity Tuesday

Rangpur division recorded 5.11 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as nine fresh cases were reported after testing 176 new samples at two laboratories on Tuesday.  

Health officials said the pandemic situation continued to improve during the last four months in the division, but the daily passivity rate marked a rising trend in the past few days.  

Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 4.11 percent on Tuesday, 13.50 percent on Sunday, 13.58 percent on Saturday, 3.66 percent on Friday, 5.26 percent on Thursday and 2.90 percent on Wednesday last in the division.  

Among the nine new patients, two were reported positive after testing 82 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) at 2.44 percent positivity rate on Tuesday.

"The two new patients include one each from Rangpur and Kurigram districts," said Principal of RpMC Professor Dr Bimal Chandra Roy.

Meanwhile, seven new patients were reported positive after testing 94 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at 7.45 percent positivity rate on Tuesday.

"All seven new patients are hailing from different areas of Dinajpur district," said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain.

Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Abu Md. Zakirul Islam said the total number of Covid-19 patients rose to 55,854 as nine new positive cases were reported today from across the division.  

 "The district-wise break up of total 55,854 patients include 12,601 of Rangpur, 3,836 Panchagarh, 4,468 of Nilphamari, 2,770 of Lalmonirhat, 4,653 of Kurigram, 7,708 of Thakurgaon, 14,936 of Dinajpur and 4,882 of Gaibandha in the division," he said.
