Rangpur records 4.14pc Covid-19 positivity Thursday

Rangpur division recorded 4.14 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as six fresh cases were reported after testing 145 new samples at the two laboratories in the division on Thursday. Health officials said the daily positivity rate is showing a rising trend in the past couple of days although the pandemic situation continued to improve during the last four months.

Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 2.90 percent on Wednesday, 7.69 percent on Tuesday, 1.61 percent on Monday, 2.40 percent on Sunday, zero percent on Saturday and 0.64 percent on Friday last in the division. Among the six new patients, were reported after testing 54 samples at the

Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMP) at 3.70 percent positivity rate on Thursday.

   "All the two new patients are hailing from different areas of Rangpur city," Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr Md Mahfuzer Rahman said.

   Meanwhile, four new patients were reported positive after testing 91 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at 4.40 percent positivity on Thursday.   "The four new patients include three from Dinajpur and one from Nilphamari

districts," said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain.    

Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam said the total number of Covid-19 patients rose to 55,789 as six new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

   "The district-wise break up of total 55,789 patients include 12,573 of Rangpur, 3,835 Panchagarh, 4,466 of Nilphamari, 2,764 of Lalmonirhat, 4,650 of Kurigram, 7,707 of Thakurgaon, 14,914 of Dinajpur and 4,880 of Gaibandha in the division," Dr Islam said.
