Rangpur division recorded 32.18 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 121 fresh cases were reported after testing 376 new samples at two Covid-19 Laboratories on Monday.
Health officials said the pandemic situation is showing a rapidly deteriorating trend almost during the last three weeks in the division.
The daily passivity rate is also showing a rising trend as the number of Covid-19 cases continues increasing swiftly everyday.
Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 41.82 percent positivity rate on Sunday, 53.31 percent on Saturday, 25.41 percent on Friday, 46.45 percent on Thursday, 45 percent on Wednesday and 39.72 percent on Tuesday last in the division.
Among the 121 new patients, 53 were reported positive after testing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) at the 28.19 percent positivity rate today.
"The 53 new patients include 32 from Rangpur, eight from Gaibandha, nine from Lalmonirhat, two from Kurigram and one each from Nilphamari and Dinajpur districts," said Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. Bimal Chandra Roy.
On the other hand, 68 new patients were reported positive after testing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the 36.17 percent positivity rate today.
"The 68 new patients include 43 from Dinajpur, six each from Panchagarh and Thakurgaon and 13 from Nilphamari districts," said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain.
Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Abu Md. Zakirul Islam told BSS that the total number of Covid-19 patients rose to 59,539 as 121 new positive cases were reported today from across the division. The district-wise break up of total 59,539 patients include 13,572 of Rangpur, 4,060 Panchagarh, 4,878 of Nilphamari, 2,958 of Lalmonirhat, 4,770 of Kurigram, 8,177 of Thakurgaon, 15,981 of Dinajpur and 5,142 of Gaibandha in the division.
