Rangpur records 3.45pc Covid-19 positivity Friday

Rangpur division recorded 3.45 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as three fresh cases were reported after testing 87 new samples at the two laboratories on Friday.  

Health officials said the pandemic situation continued to improve amid a mostly declining positivity rate during the last four months in the division.

Earlier, the average daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 2.90 percent on Wednesday, 7.69 percent on Tuesday, 1.61 percent on Monday, 2.40 percent on Sunday and zero percent on Saturday last in the division.   All three new patients were reported after testing 61 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) at 4.92 percent positivity rate on Friday.

"The three new patients are hailing from different areas of Rangpur city," Principal of RpMC Professor Dr Bimal Chandra Roy said.   Meanwhile, no new patients were reported positive after testing 26 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur on Friday, said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain.

Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Abu Md. Zakirul Islam said the total number of Covid-19 patients rose to 55,796 as three new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

The district-wise break up of total 55,796 patients include 12,580 of Rangpur, 3,835 Panchagarh, 4,467 of Nilphamari, 2,764 of Lalmonirhat, 4,650 of Kurigram, 7,707 of Thakurgaon, 14,913 of Dinajpur and 4,890 of Gaibandha in the division.
