Rangpur division recorded 2.70 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as two fresh cases were diagnosed after testing 74 samples at two laboratories on Thursday.
Health officials said the Covid-19 pandemic situation is improving rapidly as the number of positive cases is decreasing amid rising recovery rate of infected patients during the last three weeks. Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 1.69 percent on Wednesday, 1.59 percent on Tuesday, 0.28 percent on Monday, 2.71 percent on Sunday, 3.27 percent on Saturday and 0.65 percent on Friday last. "None was diagnosed positive after testing 44 samples at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC )Covid-19 laboratory on Thursday," said Principal of RpMC Professor Dr Bimal Chandra Roy. The two new patients were reported positive after testing 30 samples at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) Covid-19 laboratory in Dinajpur at the 6.67 percent positivity rate.
"All two new patients are hailing from Dinajpur district," said Principal of MARMC Prof Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.
Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Abu Md. Zakirul Islam said that the total number of Covid-19 patients reached 64,103 as two new positive cases were reported on Thursday from across the division.
"The district-wise break-up of the total 64,103 patients include 14,955 of Rangpur, 4,415 of Panchagarh, 5,475 of Nilphamari, 3,280 of Lalmonirhat, 4,980 of Kurigram, 8,578 of Thakurgaon, 16,914 of Dinajpur and 5,506 of Gaibandha in the division," he added.
