Rangpur records 2.03pc Covid positivity

Rangpur division recorded 2.03 percent Covid- 19 positivity rate as three fresh cases were reported after testing 148 new samples at the two Covid-19 Laboratories on Monday.

Health officials said the positivity rate marked a sudden rise on Monday in the division where the pandemic situation continued to improve during the last four months. 

Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 2.40 percent on Sunday, zero percent on Saturday, 0.64 percent on Friday, 6.58 percent on Thursday, 2.39 percent on Wednesday and 1.32 percent on Tuesday last in the division.  

Among the three new patients, two were reported positive after testing 54 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) at the positivity rate of 3.70 percent on Monday.

"The two new patients include one each from Rangpur and Nilphamari districts," said Principal of RpMC Professor Dr Md Mahfuzar Rahman.

On the other hand, one more new patient was reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 1.06 percent on Monday.

"The only new patient is hailing from Dinajpur district," said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain said.

 Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam said the total number of Covid-19 patients rose to 55,767 as three new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

The district-wise break up of total 55,767 patients include 12,563 of Rangpur, 3,835 Panchagarh, 4,464 of Nilphamari, 2,764 of Lalmonirhat, 4,650 of Kurigram, 7,707 of Thakurgaon, 14,904 of Dinajpur and 4,880 of Gaibandha in the division.
