A colourful rally was held in Rangamati on Tuesday to mark the 48th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
At around 3pm, BNP leaders and activists from all levels gathered at the Rangamati Municipality premises. From there, the rally, organised by the Rangamati District BNP, paraded the main roads and ended at the Court Building.
The rally drew enthusiastic participation from BNP and its affiliated and associate organisations. Leaders and activists joined the programme carrying party flags, banners and festoons.
Prior to the rally, a discussion was held with the participation of district BNP leaders. Chaired by District BNP President and Rangamati District Council Chairman Dipan Talukder, the meeting was addressed by Rangamati MP and former Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Advocate Dipen Dewan, District BNP General Secretary and Rangamati District Council member Advocate Mamunur Rashid, District BNP Organising Secretary Saiful Islam Shakil, among others.
The speakers highlighted the history of the BNP and its role in the country's political arena. They also called for working together to establish democracy, voting rights and people's rights.
The speakers said the BNP had played a role in movements for people's rights and democracy since its establishment. They expressed their resolve to remain beside the people and implement the party's programmes in the days ahead.
Leaders and activists of the district BNP and various affiliated and associate organisations attended the programme. A strong presence of party leaders and activists was seen across the district town surrounding the rally and discussion. #EK
