The internal Aman paddy collection programme has been inaugurated to directly collect paddy from the farmers in Thakurgaon.
Ramesh Chandra Sen, Awami League Presidium Member and MP from Thakurgaon-1 constituency, formally inaugurated the programme on Saturday at Khaddo Gudam organized by Thakurgaon Food Department.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Nur Qutubul Alam presided over the discussion event organized during the inauguration. District Awami League President and Zila Parishad Chairman was Md Sadek Quraishi was present as the special guest at the meeting. Also present were General Secretary Deepak Kumar Roy, District Food Controller Mohammad Babul Hossain, Sadar Upazila Chairman and Upazila Awami League President Advocate Arunangshu Dutt Tito, Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Abdullah-Al-Mamun, among others.
Later, the chief guest inaugurated the programme by collecting paddy from Mahadev Barman, farmer of Akcha union of Sadar upazila. It is to be noted that in the current fiscal year, the government will procure 6,095 metric tonnes of paddy from Thakurgaon Sadar upazila from 6,095 farmers selected by lottery. And a total of 16,202 tonnes of Aman paddy will be procured from the selected 20,075 farmers of the district. The price of paddy per kg has been set at 26 taka.
