So far no patient by being attacked with COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has been detected in Rajshahi, informed Dr Enamul Haque, Civil Surgeon of Rajshahi.

However, the officials of Health department in Rajshahi have demanded to 'lock down' Rajshahi immediately to check the spread of any coronavirus. The sources mentioned, though no one has been detected to carry Corona virus in Rajshahi till Sunday noon, they are worried the virus may spread as an epidemic soon since many people who returned from abroad could not be identified and were not put under home quarantine in Rajshahi.

That is why they apprehend, the Corona virus situation in Rajshahi might go out of control any moment unless the city is put under a complete 'lock down' soon.

Dr Enamul Haque, Civil Surgeon of Rajshahi, informed a total of 148 people in Rajshahi district including 76 in the city have been put under home quarantine of whom 10 were released since no symptom of the virus could be detected in them and thus totalling the number of people in home quarantine to 138 at present. So far, no person has been put under isolation and no affected person has been detected in Rajshahi.

Meanwhile, Gopendranath Acharya, Director of Health , Rajshahi division said, the Health department lacks sufficient manpower to make a list of foreign returnees in the district. That is why they were working according to the list prepared from every union of the upazilas and the Rajshahi City Corporation. But the list of those institutions does not seem proper that is why people of Rajshahi were under extreme risk and it was high time to put Rajshahi city under complete lock down.

On the other hand, sources of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police informed, at least 809 people entered in 12 thana areas of Rajshahi city from visiting abroad while 1,308 more people who returned from abroad during last couples of week were now staying in various upazilas of the district. But, only 138 people of the district were now under home quarantine.

Golam Ruhul Quddus, Spokesperson of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police informed, they got a list of 1,308 foreign returnees in the district of whom 809 returned at Rajshahi city corporation areas out of whom 780 were detected. Many of  those returnees have completed a 14-day term of home quarantine but those who have not, have been asked to stay at home and directed not to go out of their houses.

On the other hand, Mahmud Hasan, Additional Superintendent of Police informed, a list of 1,308 foreign returnees in Rajshahi has been sent from Police headquarters in Dhaka but addresses of many of those returnees were not available. Police headquarters in Dhaka has also asked them to report of the condition of the listed persons and they were working accordingly.

Meanwhile, people of the city and rural areas were seen to move as usual and a huge assemblage of crowd was also seen to move at rail station, bus stations and markets  of the city, many of them without wearing any masks.

Saiful Ferdous, Deputy Director of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital informed, the number of patients taking treatment at hospital by attacked in cold, cough and fever is normal. And no coronavirus attacked patient has so far been detected or admitted at the hospital so far.
