Members of Armed forces and police have enforced a virtual lockfown in the city and the district to check the spread of fatal Coronavirus. As the lockdown like situation has been clamped throughout the city and the district no vehicle is being allowed to enter into or depart from the city except for emergencies and all shops of the city except for drug stores have been ordered to shut down after 6-00 pm from Monday by the authorities of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police.
People have also been ordered to remain inside their houses till the situation turns normal. Golam Ruhul Quddus, Spokesperson of RMP informed, such 'unannounced' Lock Down has been imposed to check the spread of Corona. He further said, it is not just a Lock Down in the true sense but no shop except the drug stores in the city will remain open after 6-00 pm and movement of all sort of vehicles, to and from the city, has been kept suspended except for emergency purposes, even people are not being allowed to come out of their houses.
Meanwhile, a divisional coordination meeting was held in Rajshahi on the Coronavirus situation where the local administration was directed to take stern action so that Coronavirus is not spread in Rajshahi. The Coordination meeting was attended, among others, by RCC Mayor AHM Kahiruzzaman Liton, Member of Parliament of Rajshahi Sadar constituency Fzaley Hossain Badsha, Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Humayun Khandker and Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Hamidul Haque.
It is learnt soon after the decision of the meeting, the Armed Forces members and Police took to alert position in all important points of the city and the outskirts controlling the movement of the vehicles through city streets. Police and army joint check posts have been set up at Belpukur, Kantakhali, Naodapara and Kasiadanga points to bar entrance and departure of any vehicles from those points.
On the other hand, one more suspected Coronavirus patient has been put under isolation ward at the ID hospital of Rajshahi. The 18-year old young man was sent from Bagatipara of Natore district to RMCH as a suspected Corona patient. He was sent to the isolation unit of ID Hospital from RMCH.
However, a nurse of Christian Mission Hospital who had been admitted to the isolation ward of ID hospital, has been released from there because her test report of Corona reported negative, informed Dr. Azizul Haque Azad, Convener of Corona Treatment Team of RMCH at a press conference held on Monday morning.
Dr. Azad further mentioned, five patients were admitted at the Observation ward of them three were released as their condition improved. he hoped, rest two patients will also be released tomorrow.
Dr. Sabera Gulnahar, Head of the Department of Virology of RMC informed, a total of 31 samples of suspected Corona patients are being tested at the Coronavirus Testing Laboratory of RMC on Monday.
Of the samples, 6 are from Rajshahi, 10 are from Chapainawabganj, 8 from Natore, 6 from Bogura and one from Naogaon. So far 98 samples of Coronavirus have been tested at the laboratory since its inception on April-1.
