Lawyers of Rajshahi formed a human chain and staged a demonstration in protest against the murder of Lawyer Saiful Islam Alif in Chittagong in front of the office of the Rajshahi Advocate Bar Association at 10:00am on Wednesday.
Among others, the human chain was addressed, by the President and the General Secretary of Rajshahi Advocates Bar Association Abul Kasem and Jamshed Ali respectively and former General Secretary of Bar Parvez Toufique Zahedi.
Advocate Abdul Kashem said the incident of brutal murder through beating and stabbing of a lawyer at the court premises is unprecedented in the history of Bangladesh. There was no scope of considering it as a small incident. A section of people were instigating the Sanatonis to destabilise the situation in Bangladesh.
He further said, whoever be the murderers of Advocate Saiful, should be arrested and brought before trial soon. Otherwise, the Lawyers would be bound to announce a greater programme. He also demanded to ensure the security of the lawyers and to ban the activities of ISCON in Bangladesh.
