Sacked 53 employees of Bangladesh Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR), Rajshahi and their family members observed a token hungry strike in front of main gate of the office from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Sunday demanding their reinstatement.
Mass leader Ataur Rahman Smriti Parishad organised the token hunger strike programme. During the observance of token hunger strike, local political leaders and journalists delivered lectures by expressing solidarity with the hunger strikers. Among others, the programme was addressed, by President of Rajshahi Press club and Mass leader Ataur Rahman Smriti Parishad Saidur Rahman, Jatiya Party leader Salah Uddin Mintu, Shahadat Hossain and Ashiqul Islam Hanif.
Speakers at the programme demanded immediate reinstatement of the sacked employees and sought intervention of the honourable Prime Minister in this connection. They also warned to launch a staunch, continuous movement if the sacked employees are not reinstated within a short time.
