State Minister for Religion Md Faridul Haque Khan said, "Everyone should be well informed and aware about the way of salvation without panic in dealing with the disaster. To this end, it is necessary to raise awareness on this issue by witnessing the exercise demonstration by the concerned authorities of the government.”
The State Minister said this while addressing a discussion meeting on the occasion of National Disaster Preparedness Day-2022 organized by Islampur Upazila Administration and Islampur Upazila Disaster Management Committee at Islampur Upazila Parishad Hall on Thursday morning.
The state minister said the Toll Free Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system has been introduced on mobiles (1090) for early warning of disasters and daily weather messages. He further said that the present Awami League government has been able to bring down the death toll in the disaster to one digit due to its pre-preparedness and use of modern technology. The present government has reduced the loss of life and property of the people by adopting 'advance management' programme from the traditional 'post-disaster response management' in dealing with disasters since 2009.
Islampur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tanvir Hasan Ruman presided over the programme where Chairman of the Upazila Parishad also spoke in the discussion meeting on the occasion of National Disaster Preparedness Day-2022. SM Zaman Abdun Nasser Babul, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Roknuzzaman Khan, General Secretary of Upazila Awami League AH Salam, Vice Chairman Abdul Khaleq Akhand, Rozina Akter China, Mehedi Hasan Titu, Upazila Project Implementation Officer, Manikul Islam Manik, Principal Jamal Abdun Naser Chowdhury Charles, Officer-in-Charge Majedur Rahman, Fire Service Officer Khairul Alam among others were present on the occasion.
On the occasion, the state minister distributed cheques among 108 families affected by river erosion in Islampur upazila.

Earlier in the morning, the Minister of State for Religious Affairs participated as the chief guest in a colorful rally organized on the occasion of National Disaster Preparedness Day-2022. Rally goes out of the upazila and encircles the city.
