Amid the whole COVID-19 chaos with tournaments and games being impacted as a result, it was rain that had the final say in Dharamshala as the first One-Day International between India and South Africa was washed out. The rain was temperamental, ceasing and resuming at will, forcing the eventual abandonment of the contest without even the toss taking place on Thursday.

It all began with the outfield still recovering from a heavy downpour yesterday, delaying the toss initially. The sun even snuck out briefly, promising a delayed start. But that was before rain began pelting down and to the point of no recovery.  The three-match series now essentially turns into a two-game one with the second ODI due to be played in Lucknow on Sunday.
