Rain may continue during Eid

Light to moderate rain is likely to continue in Dhaka and some other parts of the country, according to the forecast of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

In its daily weather report, the BMD on Tuesday (June 27) forecast that light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Khulna, Barishal, Dhaka, Chattogram, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country.

The rainfall activity may continue for the next 72 hours or three days.  Day and night temperatures may fall by (1-2) degree Celsius over the country, the Met office daily bulletin added.

AKM Nazmul Haque, a deputy director of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD); said that in the Synoptic Situation of the weather bulletin that the low-pressure area over North Odisha and the adjoining area now lies over Chhattisgarh and the adjoining area.

The axis of the monsoon trough runs through Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, the center of the low, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across the Southern part of Bangladesh. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay.

As per the forecast of BMD, people may experience rain on the day of Eid-ul-Azha to be celebrated tomorrow (Thursday) in Bangladesh. 

Country’s maximum temperature on Monday was recorded 36.5 degrees Celsius at Sylhet while Tuesday’s minimum temperature 23.8 degrees Celsius was recorded at Kutubdia.

 The highest rainfall was recorded 66mm at Hatia and Khepupara in 24 hours till 6:00am on Tuesday. 

The sun sets at 6:50 pm on Tuesday and rises at 5:13am today (Wednesday) in the capital.
