Rain likely in Dhaka, mild heat wave may abate at some places

Bangladesh Meteorology Department (BMD) on Tuesday predicted the ongoing mild heat wave may abate at some places in the country. 

According to the Met office bulletin, mild heat wave was sweeping over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Chattogram, Chandpur, Cumilla, Noakhali, Feni and Bhola and it may abate.

On the other hand, Met office bulletin says that rain or thunder showers is likely in Dhaka and other seven divisions as a well-marked low over central part of North Bay and adjoining area concentrated into a monsoon depression over Northeast Bay & adjoining area.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Rangpur, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country,” said the Met office bulletin. 

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, center of the Depression to Assam across southern part of Bangladesh.

Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong elsewhere over North Bay.

However, the day and night temperature may fall by (1-2)oC over the country.

Country’s maximum temperature on Monday was recorded 38.4 degrees Celsius at Chuadanga, while Tuesday’s minimum temperature 24.5 degrees Celsius was recorded at Kutubdia.

The highest rainfall was recorded 70mm at Feni in the 24 hours till 6:00am on Tuesday. 

The sun sets at 6:42pm on Tuesday and rises at 5:28am today (Wednesday) in the capital.
