Rain again interrupted the Sri Lanka bound Tigers scheduled practice match on Thursday due to rain at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Tigers could not had their outdoor practices early of the last week after the 32-member preliminary squad was announced but the team could not do any practice first three daysdue to rain.
However, it is just a week left for the Tigers to start their Asia Cup campaign from August 31, when the second biggest showcase of world cricket competition will kick off from August 30.
Ahead of the Asia Cup cricket, Tigers initiated the preparation with the players’ medical test and fitness training with 32-member preliminary squad, then it was reduced to 22 and finally 17-man squad was announced for the Asia Cup before to start the strategic training sessions.
After few days net practice, Tigers’ head coach ChandikaHathuru Singh decided to organize a day-nigh 50 overspractice match splitting the players into two groups but due to rain the match did not take place.
Meanwhile, the players’ who are in the standby list of the squad including MahmudullahRiyad also came to the Stadium for practice on Thursday but they could only have their time at the indoor netting.
Shakin Al Hassan, who appointed to lead the team in the Asia Cup and the World Cup, joined the teamfirst time yesterday. Habibul Bashar Sumon, one of the selectors of the national team has been keenly observing the special training sessions for the Asia Cup. Sumon, the former national team’s captain termed the practice sessions as special but not like an atmosphere or the surroundings of match-practice but it is a special situation.
But the players have been working with the way ofbatting approach during the power-play, death overs, in fact players worked on the tactic at different position and situation of the match. After working last few days with different technique of both bowling and batting at different situation of the match, players had the opportunity to understand their position before to go for Asia Cup.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh team scheduled to leave Dhaka for Colombo to play their first match, the day-night encounter to take place on August 31 against the hosts Sri Lanka at Pallekele.
