Standing transplanted Aman paddy (T-Aman) was damaged in many fields of Sylhet district due to heavy rainfall last week.

Paddy farmers are, however, worried at the damage of paddy during the flowering time. In some places, the paddy plants were in full bloom and farmers were expecting to harvest paddy within next two-week. But, the sudden rainfall last week has dashed their hope.

Despite paddy, vegetables at the fields have suffered a huge damage.

Alom Uddin, a farmer of Hatimganj area under the Gulapganj Upazila said, heavy rain has a flattened flowering paddy of his field.

Moti Lal, an official of Sylhet DAE informed due to the heavy rain last week, paddy of the fields of the district was damaged. But he hoped, despite the damage in rain, farmers will reap satisfactory paddy this year.
