Railway to operate ‘Cattle Special’ train service

Bangladesh Railway (BR) is going to launch ‘Cattle Special Train Service’ on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha like previous year. 

In a notification, Bangladesh Railway has informed this on Saturday. 

The notification said, "On the occasion of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha, like last year, sacrificial animals from different stations -- Dewanganj Bazar, Islampur Bazar, Melandah Bazar, Jamalpur, Durmut, Mymensingh -- will be transported to Dhaka station by 'Cattle Special' train.

The BR authorities asked the traders to avail the ‘Cattle Special Train Service’ to take the sacrificial animals safely to Gopibagh (Kamalapur), Shahjahanpur, Mugda cattle markets near Dhaka station in a safe, low cost and short time.

Traders can save time and money by transporting their valuable sacrificial animals like cows, buffaloes, goats, sheep in the ‘Cattle Special’ train of Bangladesh Railway. However, they will also have an opportunity to take the service of passenger train to reach their respective destinations after selling the sacrificial animals.

Livestock traders and farmers are requested to contact the local station master for information on wagon rental and allocation. 

Confirming the matter, Additional Director General (Operations) of Bangladesh Railway Sardar Shahadat Ali said, "We have made preparations. If the Covid-19 situation become normal and the sacrificial animal market is open for all, then we will start this train service".
