The parcel service of Bangladesh Railway (BR) on three routes collected about Taka 4.5 lakh as revenue so far since May 1, by transporting 5 lakh kilograms of vegetables and other agricultural foods, reports BSS.
“The BR has collected Taka 4.5 lakh so far by transporting 5 lakh kilograms of vegetables and agricultural foods through luggage-van trains since May 1,” said a Railways Ministry press release here on Wednesday.
According to the press release, the BR has been operating three special parcel trains to transport food, daily essentials and perishable goods on Chattogram-Sarishabari-Chattogram, Dhaka- Bhairab Bazar-Dhaka and Bir Muktijoddha Railway Station (Panchagarh)-Dhaka amid the nationwide shutdown due to coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
Earlier, it suspended all passenger services from March 24 to contain the spread of Covid-19.
