Bangladesh Railway Eastern Zone has taken extensive preparations to ensure a smooth and comfortable journey for homebound passengers ahead of Holy Eid-ul-Azha 2026.
The first day of Eid travel, General Manager (East) Engineer Md. Sabuktagin visited Chattogram Railway Station to inspect the overall passenger service arrangements on Saturday.
During the visit, he observed the station’s overall operations, passenger service facilities, ticketing management, security measures and train movement situation. Senior railway officials were also present at the time.
Railway GM spoke with passengers at the station and collected their feedback regarding Eid travel services. Passengers shared opinions on online ticket collection, train punctuality and security arrangements.
According to Bangladesh Railway Eastern Zone sources, a total of 16 pairs of intercity trains are operating in the eastern region for Eid travel. Passenger pressure is comparatively higher on the Dhaka, Cox’s Bazar, Sylhet, Mymensingh and Chandpur routes.
Railway officials said, intercity trains operating from Chattogram include Subarna Express, Mahanagar Provati, Mahanagar Godhuli, Sonar Bangla Express, Turna Nishitha and Cox’s Bazar Express.
Special importance is being given to the online ticketing system to reduce passenger suffering. Tickets are being sold online according to the scheduled time, while technical monitoring has been strengthened to keep the servers operational. A limited number of tickets are also being sold through station counters.
To ensure hassle-free Eid travel, additional security measures, cleanliness drives, medical support and special assistance teams have been deployed at the station, railway officials said.
Railway GM Md. Sabuktagin said, “Bangladesh Railway Eastern Zone is working with utmost sincerity to ensure safe and comfortable travel for Eid passengers. Officials concerned have been instructed to remain alert to maintain quality passenger services.”
