The diesel locomotive running shed at Ishwardi in Pabna, which is part of the country's largest and Pakshi Divisional Railway, has not been modernized in 100 years. Instead, the use of old-fashioned equipment and the activities of the shed are going on in the old buildings for a long time. Some development work has been started to make this shed modern and suitable. Asim Kumar Talukder, General Manager (GM) of Bangladesh Railway (West), visited Ishwardi on Friday to see the development work. He visited the diesel locomotive running shed of Ishwardi around 11 am on Friday. He toured parts of the running shed, various offices, and talked to the officers and employees. At that time, GM Asim Kumar Talukder said that the present government has adopted a plan to increase the quality of passenger service in the railways and is working to implement it. Work is being done so that train passengers can travel by train with ease and instructions have been given to the heads of each department of the railways. He said development work is underway at Ishwardi Locomotive Running Shed, Junction Station. When these works are completed, most of the problems here will be solved.

Shahidul Islam, Chief Transport Officer, Bangladesh Railway (West), Shahidul Islam, Manager (DRM), Pakshi Divisional Railway, Anwar Hossain, Transport Officer-2, Abdur Rahim, Engineer, Rifat Shakil, Electrical Engineer (Loco) Ashish Kumar Mandal and other officials of Pakshi Railway were present.

It is learned that Ishwardi loco shed is the largest loco shed in the country as a 'diesel locomotive running shed' for the broad gauge railway line. It is an important KPI (security critical) installation of a state. The loco shed started its journey in 1929 asa steam engine production facility.

In the 60's and 70's, when steam engines were replaced by rail diesel electric locomotives (engines), it was gradually changed to diesel electric locomotive running sheds.
