Railway employee honoured for protecting assets

A railway employee named Mohammad Sharif Hasan was rewarded for holding two members of a railway equipment thief.  Director General of Eastern Railway (DG) Shamuzzaman awarded him at the Eastern Railway Office CRB on Monday morning.  Also present at the occasion were Eastern Railway Additional Director General Manzoor-ur-Alam, Railway Eastern General Manager Nasir Uddin Ahmed.

 It is reported that two members of a thief gang were stealing a clip from a rail sleeper in Jamalpur on January 30 last morning.  Sharif Hassan, a railway employee in charge of maintenance on the route, was caught in their hands.  They were later handed over to the GRP police.  GRP police recovered 50 rail clips from the two men.

 In a brief statement, Director General of Railways (DG) Shamsuzzaman said that such responsibility should be maintained to protect railway assets.  Where there is damage to the rail, everyone has to stand against it.  In developed countries, everyone is obliged to perform his duties.

 After receiving the award, Sharif Hasan said the two thieves had been stealing the rail clip for 6 months.  GRP police arrested 10 people in the entire burglary cycle based on the information of those two.  Those who used to steal railway assets at different times.

 "I am under security threat because of the arrest of the thief gangs.  I have requested the Railway Administration to give us responsibility elsewhere. ' Railway Eastern Public Relations Officer Toysia Ahmed told bangladesh post, "We have asked the authorities to consider the safety of him and give him duty elsewhere."  Authorities told him that he would give him workplace duties at his preferred location.
