Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan got married again. He got married to advocate Shammi Akhtar Monir, 42, at the minister's official residence in Dhaka on June 5.
Shammi Akhtar Moni's elder brother Jahidul Islam Milon confirmed the matter. He said that his sister Shammi lives in Uttara, Dhaka. She is a lawyer in the High Court.
She went to meet the Railway Minister a few days ago to seek legal advice. She liked the minister and their marriage took place on June 5 in presence of their families.
Nilufar Jahan, first wife of Nurul Islam Sujan, passed away in December 2018 before the 11th parliamentary elections.
Nurul Islam, 65, was born on 5 January 1956 in Panchagarh. He was elected a member of the Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh Jatiya Sangsad from Panchagarh-2 (Boda-Debiganj) constituency. He became the Railway Minister after being elected in 2018.
Nurul Islam Sujan is a veteran Supreme Court lawyer by profession and also a lawyer in the Bangabandhu murder case.
Shammi Akhtar Monir was previously married in Kushtia. The marriage ended in a divorce in 2011 due to family problems.
