Anti-liberation forces are allegedly hatching a conspiracy to destroy the growing film industry by misusing social networking sites, said law enforcers. The pro-Jamaat cyber criminals have already started hacking Facebook accounts of leading film stars and tarnishing their image.
The anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion arrested two members of the gang. After RAB launched a special operation against hackers, most of the hackers went into hiding. They were identified as Mir Masud Rana, son of one Mir Golam Moula, hailing from Pabna district and Md Sourab, son of Khokon Miah, hailing from Mymensingh.
Some of them were trying to leave the country secretly. RAB came to know that two hackers are coming to Dhaka from Sylhet. When they arrived at Mohakhali Bus Terminal in the city early Friday, RAB raided the Namira Hotel in the capital at around 6am.
During their primary interrogation, they admitted that they hacked Facebook accounts of Misha Sowdagor and Jayed Khan, Reaz, Shanoor, Achol, Resy, Keya, Mahi, Bipasha and some other leading artists. They earned Tk one lakh to fifty thousand from each of them. RAB also seized four mobile sets, one laptop, twenty SIM cards, fake NID manufacturing apps.
Md Zahid Ahsan, Assistant Police Super, who is also assistant director (Media) of RAB-2 confirmed it. They first collect detailed information of the film stars including their date of birth and email accounts. They first make friendships with the film stars. They also become close with the mutual friends of the film stars.
At one stage, the hacker group members hacked the targeted Facebook accounts of the film star. Sometimes they share nude contents on the walls of the film stars if they do not agree to give money to get back their accounts. On getting such a complaint, Bangladesh Film Actors Association lodged a complaint with RAB.
RAB started investigating the issue. Misha Sawdagar president and Zayed Khan general secretary of the Bangladesh Film Actors Association had also been recent victims of such hacking. RAB was also provided assistance from the National Telecommunication Center (NTMC). RAB came to know that a hacker group named ‘Team Sylhet’ was leading the hacker group. There are twenty members in the hacker group. Some of them are male while others are female hackers.
But the mastermind, Nasir, lives in the USA. He was recently arrested by the US police in connection with hacking. Nasir also appoints hackers through advertisements in social media. He coordinates how to hack accounts, and how to make fake national ID cards. He also coordinates how to earn money through hacking. However, his associates Mir Masud Rana, Sourav, Babul Rahman, Atique, Jeina Rahan, Afroz Mim Asha, Saraka Mojomder, Sithiya, Tanvi, Sumaiya, and Rubi live in the country.
