Rapid Action Battalion on Monday arrested a drug peddler from the city.
Talking to the Bangladesh Post, Additional Superintendent Bina Rani Das, who is also the Media Officer of RAB-3,confirmed it. The arrested was primarily identified as Md Babu,25, hailing from Jessor district.
According to the RAB officials, getting secret information, a team of RAB raided at in front of Jumuna Bank ATM Booth on Biswa road under the Mukda Police Station on early Monday. The elite force came to know that some drug smugglers are gathering there to sell drugs.
They halted a speedy truck and searched it. During the raid, RAB personnel seized 700 gram heroine from the possession of Babu.
Later Babu also arrested in connection with possessing the contraband narcotics. During the primary interrogation, the arrested drug smuggler admitted that he was involved in drug trading for long. A case was filed in this connection and the arrested was handed over to the local Mugda Police Station. Adl SP Bina Rani Das said they would continue their drives to arrest all others involved in the drug peddling.
