Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) rescued an abducted 4-year-old child following a rescue operation from the remote Babutia Char of Jamuna River in Manikganj on Tuesday, stated a press release issued by RAB-4 on Wednesday.
RAB-4 sources said that Ahsan Adip, the minor boy was abducted from Purbachala area of Ashulia in Dhaka, on Sunday. The abductors demanded a ransom of TK 1 million from his parents on the next day.
After receiving the complaint, RAB-4 personnel started investigating the case.
Later, they conducted a search and rescue operation in Daulatpur Thana area of Mankiganj and rescued the child from the remote Char. During the operation, kidnapper Rokib Sarder was also arrested from the spot.
After primary investigation, RAB-4 members found that Rokib was a tenant for 5 months in the house of the abducted child’s father. He left the house one month ago and hatched a plot to abduct the child. According to the plan, he lured the kid by offering him snacks.
The Kidnapper later took the child to his house at that remote char and demanded TK 1 million from his parents. As the area has no roads, RAB personnel conducted the operation on feet and used boats to reach the Char.
RAB officials stated that such drives will be conducted in future as well to curb criminal activities.
