RAB-15, supported by the Navy and police, has conducted a special joint operation in the remote hilly areas of Fakirjum Para, Andhar Ghona, and Mizzir Para under the Kalarmarchhara Union of Maheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar. The operation aimed to dismantle terrorist hideouts involved in land grabbing, armed robbery, and secret killings.
Led by Lieutenant Colonel Kamrul Hasan, Commanding Officer of RAB-15, the raid took place on Thursday. During the operation, five makeshift shelters used by terrorists were destroyed.
According to Lt Col Hasan, several armed groups had long established strongholds deep in the hills, engaging in serious criminal activities. Just a day prior, three police officers were injured in a shooting by suspected terrorists in Maheshkhali, prompting this swift action.
The operation resulted in the recovery of 10 locally-made firearms and a significant quantity of rifle ammunition. Authorities confirmed that efforts to root out such criminal networks will continue.
