RAB nabs man with 50 kg hemp in Cox’s Bazar

50 kg of hemp was found underground of a residential home in Kalatali area of Cox's Bazar town. RAB has arrested a person named Maulvi Abdullah (52) in this incident. The operation was carried out around 1:15 pm on Friday. The matter has been confirmed by RAB-15 Assistant Director (Law and Media) Md. Billal Uddin.

According to the RAB, the detainee was the son of late Abdul Mobin of Nuniarchhara area of Abdullah town. He currently lives in South Kalatali.

Billal Uddin, Assistant Director (Law and Media) of RAB-15, said that RAB conducted an operation in Kalatali at midnight on the basis of secret information. At that time, Maulvi Abdullah was arrested while trying to escape after sensing the presence of RAB members. When asked the reason for his escape, he admitted on one leg that marijuana was hidden under the ground behind his house. He said he had been collecting and selling cannabis illegally from diffe­rent parts of the country for a long time.

The RAB official also said that a written statement has been submitted to Cox's Bazar Sadar Model Police Station to take necessary legal action against the detainee under the Narcotics Control Act.
