Members of elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-4) held nine gamblers in a raid at Bishwanathpur village under Garpara union of Manikganj Sadar upazila on Sunday night.
They also recovered two sets playing cards, four mobile sets and Tk 26,760 from their possession.
The arrestees are Abdul Aziz, 44, son of Majid, Abdul Majid, 50, son of Joynal Abedin, Rupchad, 44, son of Delo Bepary, Juboraj, 50, son of Alauddin Khan of village Sakrail, Mir Mustafizur Rahman, 45, son of Mir Ali Ashraf of Chandhoir village, Ashok Ali, 65, son of Hasan Ali, Babul Hossain, 47, son of Chomir Uddin, Motiur Rahman, 45, son of Sorosh Ali of Bishonathpur and Md Hasmot Ali, 60, son of Khoka Mollik of Gowyal Para in Manikganj Sadar upazila.
Senior ASP and Company Commander in Crime prevention Company 3 of RAB-4 Unu Mong said that a team of RAB-4 conducted a drive on secret information at 11.45pm on Sunday at Bishwanathpur village and detained the gamblers while they were gambling.
During the preliminary interrogation, the detainees admitted that they were professional gamblers and involved in various criminal activities, RAB sources said.
In another drive, RAB-4 personnel arrested a youth along with Yaba tablets from the village. The arrestee is Mohammad Solaiman, 22, son of Sirajul Islam of Bishwanathpur village. He had been selling Yaba tablets and gaza for a long time.
