RAB nabs 5 drug dealers in Chattogram

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-7) arrested 5 drug dealers including a Rohingya, while entering Chattogram with a large shipment of yaba by sea from Teknaf in Cox's Bazar.  Meanwhile, the fishing boat used for rescuing and transporting 2 lakh pieces of yaba worth Tk 6 crore was seized from them.

 This information was confirmed in a statement sent by RAB's media wing on Thursday afternoon.  Earlier, drug dealers were arrested from Magnama  launchghat of Pekua Upazila.

 They are: Nurul Abshar (23), Md. Meher Ali (39), Abdul Hamid (37), Md. Kalu (23), Nuru Hasan (33) Kutupalong Rohingya Camp Union.  Among them, Nuru Hasan is said to be a Rohingya refugee.

 According to RAB, RAB has increased intelligence surveillance on the sea route after receiving information about Yaba shipment from Teknaf.  Drug peddlers were caught by RAB while entering through Banskhali and Anwara.  Then recovered 2 lakh pieces of yaba in 20 yaba cards wrapped in white polythene from inside the drum of the fishing boat.

 RAB-7 Senior Assistant Director (Mass Media) Nurul Abshar said that the arrested drug dealers have been collecting Yaba from border area and smuggling it to different parts of the country including Chattogram.  Even in the face of the law and order forces, they used to do the work of smuggling with different tactics.  They were arrested yesterday based on a tip-off.
