RAB nabs 3 DB imposters

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three robbers, who were committing robberies posing as Detective Branch ( DB) personnel in Dhaka. 

On secret information, a team of RAB-1 raided the front of Site Dish restaurant under Airport Police Station, on Monday night. 

The trio were identified as Md Mizanur Rahman alias Bacchu, Md Nor Amin Mollah and Md Sojib Ahmed.

According to victim Md Mostofa Zaman, on October 21, he withdrew Tk 7,65,000 from local Pubali Bank in city's Uttara area. Later, he was going to deposit the cash money at Uttara Branch of IFIC Bank. When he reached on road no 12 of Uttara Sector 1, when the group of robbers claiming themselves members of DB forcibly picked him up in a private car. 

They beat him mercilessly and snatched his money leaving him on road no 12 of Uttara sector no 10.After the incident, RAB started working on it.  During the primary interrogation, they admitted that they are members of an organised robber gang. Absconding Shamol alias Suboj alias Sultan and arrested Mizanur Rahman alias Bacchu are leaders of the gang. They were jointly controlling the gang. All other members of the gang were also involved in various criminal activities. They had been committing robberies, snatching and theft in the guise of DB personnel since long. They were wearing DB jackets and carrying walkie talkies to pose as real DB men. They were handed over to the local police station.
