RAB member loses wrist while defusing bomb


A member of Rapid Action Battalion  (RAB) bomb disposal unit  lost one of his wrists while disposing a bomb at Abhoynagar police station in Jashore on Sunday.  

The injured is Shahidul, 32, a corporal of RAB-6 in Khulna camp.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Abhoynagar Police Station, Tajul Islam confirmed the matter.

Police said, a six-member bomb disposal team led by RAB-6 Khulna camp officer Mostafa Kamal arrived at the police station to disarm the recovered bombs on Sunday. One of the bombs, inadvertently blasted in which Shahidul’s left wrist was detached.

Later, he was taken to the Jashore Combined Military Hospital (CMH).

OC Tajul Islam said the bombs were confiscated in February this year as the basis of a case. The RAB team was requested to disable the bombs.
