Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two prime accused in the sensational murder case of Toffael Hossain, 50, of Gaibandha from Enayetpur Baganbari area in Kashimpur upazila of Gazipur district on Saturday night.
"The arrested persons are Md. Aminul Islam alias Amrul, 30, and his elder brother Md. Alamgir Hossain, 35, of village Pathan Danga (Porabari) in Sadar upazila of Gaibandha district," a press release issued by Senior Assistant Director (Media) of RAB Flight Lieutenant Mahmud Bashir Ahmed said today. Amrul and Alamgir hit victim Toffael Hossain of the same village with rods injuring him critically following a long-standing enmity over a land on November 22, 2022 last. The on-duty physician declared Toffael dead after he was rushed to Gaibandha Sadar Hospital on the same day.
Later, a murder case was filed in this connection with Gaibandha Sadar police station against Amrul, Alamgir and their other associates.
Alongside the police, RAB-13 enforced intelligence activities and started a shadow investigation into the case to nab the absconding killers.
On a tip off, an operational team of RAB-13 conducted a raid at Enayetpur Baganbari area and arrested the two prime accused brothers on Saturday night.
The elite force handed over the arrested persons to Gaibandha Sadar police station for further legal proceedings, the release added.
