RAB arrests two drug peddlers

The anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two drug peddlers from Gabtoli area in the capital early Sunday and seized 150 bottles of contraband phensedyl from their possession.

The arrestees were identified as Md Delwar Hossain and Md Abu Musa.

Talking to Bangladesh Post, ABM Faijul Islam, additional SP (operation officer of RAB-3), confirmed it on Sunday afternoon. Acting on secret information, a team of RAB-3 set up a check post at Gabtoli area in the capital on Saturday night.

The RAB members signaled a speeding covered-van at 12:10am to stop. But ignoring the signal, the van tried to escape. However, RAB personnel intercepted the vehicle and searched it. During the search, 1,650 bottles of phensedyl were recovered from the van.

During the primary interrogation, the arrested drug peddlers admitted that they were smuggling phensedyl for long. They first collect phensedyl from Indian bordering areas and later distribute those in different areas including the capital.

A case was filed against them. Process to handover them to the police station concerned was on while filing the report at around 6:45pm.
