Rapid Action Battalion on Saturday arrested three drug peddlers from the city’s suburb Narayanganj.
Talking to the Bangladesh Post, ASP Bina Rani Das, who is also the assistant director of RAB-3 confirmed it. The arrested were identified as Md Lion Ali, 35, MdAnarul Islam,22, and Md Al Amin.
She said, acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-3 raided at Siddhirganj area of the district on Saturday.
The RAB personnel during the raid, halted the speedy truck and after searching the vehicle, RAB members recovered sixty kilograms of hemp from their possessions. The truck which was being used for carrying drugs, was also seized.
During their primary interrogation, the arrested drug peddlers admitted that they were supplying hemp in Narayanganj and adjacent areas after collecting from Cumilla district.
RAB officials stated that the arrested were handed over to the local police station. A case is filed regarding the matter.
