Rupganj Correspondent: RAB-11 arrested Shooter Masud, a top-listed criminal from Araihazar, Narayanganj, on Sunday evening, with a foreign-made pistol, bullets, and illegal drugs.
The arrest was confirmed on Monday through an official press release by Lieutenant Colonel HM Sajjad Hossain, Commander of RAB-11, Adamjee Camp.
According to RAB sources, ongoing intelligence operations were being conducted to capture armed criminals and recover illegal firearms in the region. As part of this effort, Masud was captured from the Perab area under Sonargaon Police Station. He was found in possession of one foreign pistol, a magazine, six rounds of live ammunition, 58 yaba pills, and two bottles of whisky.
Investigations revealed Masud was involved in the public shooting and murder of Rakib (25), a fabric trader, on 27 July in Noadda Babubazar, Sonargaon. CCTV footage of the brutal killing went viral on social media.
Masud and his gang were known for terrorising locals through armed displays, extortion, robbery, and drug dealing across Sonargaon and Araihazar. He faces seven cases, including murder, attempted murder, sabotage, robbery, and drug-related offences.
Legal proceedings against the arrested suspects are currently underway.
