Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Ilyas Matbar, one of the main accomplices in the kidnapping and rape of her cousin in Demra of the capital, from Darus Salam area in the capital on Tuesday.
RAB-3 Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shamim Hossain informed about the arrest on Tuesday.
The kidnapping and rape incident took place in 2019. While the main accused Riyaz was arrested earlier, Ilyas was absconding for four years. Now he has been arrested, said the RAB official.
According case details, the plaintiff in the case is the victim’s mother. They live in Demra with their 16-year-old daughter. Riyaz Madbar alias Mamun, son of the plaintiff’s brother, lives in the same area.
The plaintiff’s daughter attends a local school.
On the way to and from school, her cousin Riyaz would repeatedly make love proposals and disturb her with mobile calls.
When the victim informed his mother about the matter, she asked him not to disturb his brother’s son. Riyaz gets angry and threatens to watch them.
On the morning of September 23, 2019, Riyaz picked up the victim from the school road. When the victim did not return home for a long time, she found out that his daughter was forcibly taken away by Riyaz and others.
Later, the victim’s mother filed a case in Demra police station as a plaintiff. Riyaz was arrested in this case.
However, Ilyas, one of the accomplices in this kidnapping and rape incident, is absconding.
