Members of RAB-5, Rajshahi, have arrested a dacoit gang leader from Sheikhpara area of the city on Tuesday night. The dacoit leader was identified as Arafat Hossain Tushar(33) of Luxmipur Bhatapara area under Rajpara police station under RMP.
RAB in a press release informed, in the early hours of 21 August the dacoit gang in an ambulance arrived near Postal Academy at Naodapara area and snatched away Tk 34 lakh 27 thousand by brandishing arms from a Betel leaf trader.
Arafat Hossain Tushar headed the dacoit gang. He went into hiding after committing the dacoity.
RAB further informed, Tushar has admitted to heading the dacoit gang. He has been handed over to Shah Makhdum police station for further action.
Earlier, betel leaf trader Eklas Molla filed a case of dacoity with Shah Makhdum police station. Police then arrested six of the dacoits and recovered Tk 16 lakh 84 thousand and 940 and firearms from their possession.But, dacoit gang leader Tushar managed to escape and went into hiding.
