The anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Tuesday arrested the ringleader of an international women trafficking gang along with his three cohorts.
RAB Legal and Media Wing director Commander Khandker Al Moyeen confirmed it to media.
The arrested human trafficking ring leader was identified as Ashraful Mondol alias 'Boss Rafi'.
According to the RAB official, the RAB personnel raided in Jhenidah, Jashore and Benapole from Monday night till Tuesday morning and arrested Ashraful Mondol, his associates 'Madam' Shahida, Ismail Sarder and Abdur Rahman Sheikh alias Arman Sheikh.
According to him, many Bangladeshi women had been trafficked to India through the racket which trapped women using the social media platform TikTok.
Recently, a video on torture and sexual assault of a young Bangladeshi woman in India went viral on social media.
Indian police arrested Rifatul Islam Ridoy, known as "TikTok Ridoy Babu", along with five other Bangladeshis, from Bengaluru on May 27.
Police began an investigation over the incident and found involvement of a transnational trafficking racket in the incident.
Commander Khandker Al Moyeen said Rafi is the boss of TikTok Ridoy, arrested in India over the sexual assault of the Bangladeshi woman.
