Rapid Action Battalion in an overnight arrested 36 members of various juvenile gangs from city’s Mohammadpur area.
Talking to the Bangladesh Post, Senior Assistant Police Super Shihab Karim confirmed it on Saturday.
He said during the ongoing special operation against the juvenile gangs, a team of RAB-2 raided at different areas of the Mohammadpur of the capital Dhaka on Friday night.
They arrested 36 members of various juvenile gangs along with their gang leaders, he added.
The elite force also seized huge amount of sharp weapons from their possessions, he added.
During their primary interrogation, RAB came to know that among the arrestees, five are members of Patali group, 6 are level high group, 6 are Chand group, 5 are Lo Thela group and 7 are Maoya Imran group.
7 others are associated with other juvenile groups of the area .
RAB officials said each group has around twenty members.
Md Sujon Mia leads Patali group, Md Sharif leads Level high group, Md Sakib leads Chand group and Imran leads Maoya Imran group.The juvenile gangs members were involved in various crimes including hijacking, illegal drug trading and extortions.
We handed over the arrestees to the local police, said senior ASP Shihab.’’
