The Qulkhani of Bilkis Banu, a former teacher of Motijheel Govt Boys High School, was held on Monday (January 11).
The family members of Bilkis Banu offered special prayers at the Twin Tower mosque at Shantinagar in the capital.
Bilkis Banu died at the United Hospital in Dhaka on Friday (January 8) at the age of 74. She was buried at Mohammadpur in the capital.
She left behind only daughter Shahana Ferdous Seema who is the chairperson of the Anthropology Alumni Association of Dhaka University. Shahana Ferdous Seema’s husband Hasan Ahmed Choudhury Kiron is Advisor of ATN Bangla news section and Chairman of Debate for Democracy. Bilkis Banu’s son Muhammad Shakil Mahmud is a high official of Trust Bank.
ATN Bangla’s Programme and Broadcast department’s Advisor Tashik Ahmed, National Award winning lyricist Kabir Bakul, Bangladesh Bank’s DGM Mohammad Sarwar Hossain, Chairman of Twin Tower Complex Alhajj Mohammad Nasir Ahmed and others were present at the Qulkhani.
Bilkis Banu was a teacher of Motijheel Govt Boys High School for 25 years. Later, she joined Narinda Govt High School. She retired as an assistant head mistress from the school.
