‘Quality of training at Maritime Institute is internationally recognised’

Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping Mohammad Yusuf said, "The quality of training at the Maritime Institute is recognised by the International Maritime Organisation and the European Union's Maritime Safety Agency. Therefore, to maintain the quality of training at the Maritime Institute, its quality must be maintained.”

He said this as the chief guest at the training closing parade of the 27th batch of the National Maritime Institute and the 16th batch of trainee ratings passing out-2025 at the National Maritime Institute of Chattogram on Tuesday morning.

He began by remembering with deep respect the countless great people who have sacrificed their lives in every field of achieving our independence from the Language Movement to the Liberation War. He especially remembered the heroic martyrs of the mass uprising of the students and the masses of 2024, with deep respect and sympathy, those who despise life, those who fought for the elimination of discrimination and democracy and those who were injured. 

Also, on this day of national mourning, he prayed for the forgiveness of the souls of those who died in the plane crash at Milestone School and College and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. 

Senior Secretary Mohammad Yusuf said that among the ratings trained from this institute, a large number of sailors have passed the competitive examination and are working efficiently in the posts of Captain, Chief Engineer, Chief Officer, Second Officer, Third Officer, Third Engineer and Electrical Engineer. He said that the Ministry of Shipping is seriously considering the issue of maintaining the renowned quality of training at the National Maritime Institute. 

National Maritime Institute, Chattogram Principal Captain Ataur Rahman and National Maritime Institute, Madaripur Acting Principal Mohammad Shahidullah presided over the program and Commodore Md. Shafiul Bari was the special guest.  The program was attended by the country’s Military and civilian dignitaries, representatives of domestic and foreign ship owners and agents, teachers and students, government officials and journalists from print and electronic media including the Guardian were present. 

It is known that a total of 307 trainees participated in the training graduation parade of the 27th batch of Chattogram National Maritime Institute and the 16th batch of Madaripur trainee ratings and awards were distributed among the best trainees.
