A housewife named Anjuara Begum (21) gave birth to 4 daughters at the same time in Jamalpur.
The children were delivered through surgery at Jamalpur Apollo Hospital around 7:30 pm on Thursday. Housewife Anjuara is the wife of carpenter Ataur Rahman Babu of Sarishabari village of Sarishabari upazila.
Director of Apollo Hospital Mohammad Moraduzzaman said, housewife Anjuara was admitted to our hospital on Wednesday with labor pain. Jamalpur General Hospital Senior Consultant and Gynecologist Dr Khairul Bashar Palash started Anjuara's surgery around 6 pm on Thursday. Four girls were born one after the other in a successful surgery lasting about an hour. All the surgeons, doctors and the hospital were surprised and when the incident spread, many people thronged the hospital to see the children. It is also known that the newborn four children and the mother are healthy.
Gynecological surgeon Dr Khairul Bashar Palash said that the maternity and newborns are currently healthy. But the weight of children is 800 grams per kg, 700 grams per kg, 600 grams per kg and 400 grams per kg respectively. The newborns were shifted to Jamalpur General Hospital for advanced treatment and observation due to low birth weight.
Ataur Rahman Babu, the husband of the midwife, said that she got married 6 years ago. Nevertheless, Anjuara gave birth to a child for the first time in her married life. He said that he was surprised and happy at the same time that four children were born together.
