Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmed has requested the Qatar ambassador to Bangladesh to create employment opportunities for more Bangladeshi workers.

The minister made the request when the new Qatar Ambassador Seraya Ali Al-Qahtani paid a courtesy call on Imran Ahmed at the Expatriates’ Welfare Ministry in the city on Wednesday.

The minister said that Bangladesh and Qatar are brotherly countries.

“The two countries maintain friendly relations. The workers of Bangladesh are very hard working and they are working with efficiency and reputation all over the world,” he added.

Seraya Ali Al-Qahtani said that Qatar gives priority to the workers of Bangladesh in terms of employment.

“At present, about four lakh Bangladeshi workers are working in Qatar with reputation. The government of Qatar attaches great importance to protect the rights of the workers,” he added.

Director General of the Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) Shahidul Alam and Additional Secretary of the Ministry Abdul Quader were present during this time.
