After a long time Dhallywood popular actors and on screen couple Purnima and Riaz are coming together for their upcoming film titled ‘Joddha’, directed by SA Haque Alik.
In 1997, the duo was first paired up in director Jakir Hossain Raju’s film 'E Jibon Tomar Amar'. After that, the two have been seen in many more successful movies including 'Moner Majhe Tumi', 'Hridoyer Kotha', 'Akash Chhoya Bhalobasha', 'Lal Doriya', 'Mayer Samman', 'Khobordar', 'Jamai Shashur'.
However, they have not been together on screen for more than a decade. There are rumours that they have some personal issues and their relationship is not good. Although Riaz-Purnima has said at different times, there is no tension between them about professionalism. If they get the story of their choice in time, they will act together again and this time through director SA Haque Alik’s film their coming together.
Earlier, they also teamed up in Alik's first two films titled 'Hridoyer Kotha' and 'Akash Chhoya Bhalobasha' and the two movies were commercially successful. SA Haque Alik received a government grant for the film 'Joddha' in the financial year 2019-2020. He has been working on the pre-production of the movie for two years. After arranging everything, he is preparing for the shooting. Regarding the context the director said, Purnima has agreed to work in the film and Riaz is busy shooting outside Dhaka. He will make the final decision after hearing the story. He further added, 'The movie is based on the liberation war. The time after seventy will be highlighted here. I have a plan with Riaz and Purnima. I like them both very much.'
The story of the movie is written by Imdadul Haque Milon and the screenplay by SA Haque Alik. The director is getting a grant of Tk 50 lakh from the Liberation War Branch for the making the film. Besides, he will also co-produce and write movie songs.
