Purchase Committee okays 4 proposals

The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) on Wednesday approved a total of four proposals including one for exporting 50,000 metric tons of granular urea fertilizer to Nepal as repayable loan assistance, reports BSS.

The approval came from the 36th meeting of the CCGP in this year held virtually with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair.

Briefing reporters virtually after the meeting, the Finance Minister said the government would first purchase fertilizer from KAFCO, Bangladesh and then export it to Nepal.

He said that such kind of trade with a neighboring country would further brighten the image of Bangladesh in the international arena.

Later, briefing reporters virtually, Cabinet Division Additional Secretary Dr Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal said that Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) will procure these 50,000 metric tons of granular urea fertilizer from FAFCO, Bangladesh with around Taka 109.74 crore and thus export it to Nepal by road.

He said according to a bilateral agreement, this amount would be considered as repayable loan assistance.

Saleh also informed that the per ton bulk fertilizer from KAFCO would cost $257.375 while per ton bagged fertilizer would cost $262.375.

The day’s CCGP meeting also approved a proposal from the Local Government Division for signing a contract to appoint the joint venture of RAMBOL A/S Denmark, EGIS EAU, France, BETS Consulting Services Limited, Bangladesh, Institute of Water Modelling, Bangladesh and Dev Consultants Limited as design and supervision consultants (DSC) with around Taka 102.65 crore for component-2 of the “Sayedabad Water Treatment Plant Project (phase-3)”.

The meeting approved another proposal from the Local Government Division to appoint the joint venture of EGIS EAU, RAMBOLL A/S, BETS Consulting Services Limited, Institute of Water Modelling and Dev Consultants Limited as project management consultant with around Taka 159.45 crore for the component -1 and 3 of the “Sayedabad Water Treatment Plant Project (phase-3)”.

The meeting also gave nod to a proposal for giving approval to the agreement for printing, binding and supplying of additional 3,28,817 free textbooks (Bangla and English versions) at Ebtedayi, SSC, Dakhil vocational and technical (trade books) at the secondary level for calendar year 2021 with a cost of around Taka 66.29 lakh.
